Prom

On July 15th, 1987, martial law was lifted in Taiwan after 38 years of imposition that marked the period of suppression and authoritarianism. In the same year, on December 31st, the first prom was held at HSNU, an audacious move since dancing parties were considered “indecent” and it had been strictly prohibited under the martial law. The first prom in 1987 was an open space party, with the dance floor arranged at the courtyard between the two main buildings on campus, a convention that was established and followed ever since. Each prom goes with a unique theme. The Senior Association works closely with students in the Art Program to organize the event and design the venue based on the theme.
